The historic log one room schoolhouse located in Old Chico was built in the fall of 1877.
Seventy-seven years later the school was abandoned and all its contents were left intact as if there would be another day of class.
Nearly 60 years later Sarah Muller purchased the property and today the newly restored cabin, with exquisite recycled beetle-kill blue pine cathedral ceilings, has the feel of a schoolhouse with many of the original antiquities intact: the fire drill sign, school bell, and a couple of desks restored into stools and bedside tables.
You can relax and read on the wrap-around porch.
